iPhone 4 Design& Model Performance

While new and old competitors are gaining ever increasing portions of the smartphone market share from Apple, there is still no better handset for the money than the iPhone 4. Yes, everybody is well aware that it is a bit pricey, but dive a bit deeper into all that it offers and it will become clear why the iPhone is the best pay as you go or pay monthly mobile out there.

Start with the aesthetics. The build is solid. It feels great in your hand and makes you confident that it will be able to withstand those little bumps and bruises of everyday life. The 3.5 inch touchscreen has a 960x640 pixel resolution at 326 pixels per inch. Not sure what that means? It means clear, beautiful, rich colours on a responsive screen that lets you zoom in as far as your heart desires without everything going blurry. To accomplish this incredible 'retina display' the engineers at Apple invented pixels so small that the human eye can't distinguish one individual from the next. The glass used for the screen is the same type used for the windshields of helicopters and high speed-trains, having been chemically altered to be 30 times harder than plastic. That means that it feels great to the touch and you can rest easy knowing that breaking it is very hard to do.

Inside is where this device excels. It has an advanced gyro and accelerometer to determine which way you are holding it, a function that works wonders when playing games that require precision adjustments. And the upgraded Apple A4 processor can easily handle the complex apps and programmes available for download, along with multitasking, video editing and FaceTime calls. All this is done with battery life in mind; the mobile phone is designed to increase the longevity of each charge. Indeed, the  has a talk time of up to 14 hours, an internet life of 10 hours and a standby time of an incredible 300 hours.

The operating system is typical of Apple products in that it is very user friendly - it simply works. On the home screen you can rearrange apps to your heart's content. And Apple has introduced a new feature where you can drag and drop one app onto another to create a folder to store as many apps as you wish in, a great feature for those who are a bit obsessive about their workspace. If you do get lost in the layers of programmes you can always hit the home button that is located towards the bottom of the face of the handset.

Throw in a 5 megapixel camera, WiFi and 3g capability to replace your computer, an iPod to replace your old music player, a GPS and navigational system to replace that clunky one you have taped to your windshield, HD video recording to replace that old handheld video camera, and you can see why the iPhone 4 is well worth the money and still way ahead of the class.
