In the past, marketers focused their dollars on the traditional media outlets of text and print ads. These ads used to be effective because most people read a newspaper and many people paid attention to the ads in their mailbox and in the magazines that they bought. In today's economy, people do not even use paper. They listen to their news on their TV's, they read their news and their magazines on their smart phones and they engage in conversation through video chat. People simply do not respond to products that are sold through traditional media outlets anymore. Because of this shift it has become increasingly important for businesses to reach their customers where they want to be reached. Customers need to be familiar with the technology that is marketing to them and they need to be primed to respond well to the call to action.
Mobile ads allows for a company to do exactly that. A company is able to create a series of ads that will be displayed on user's mobile phones. These ads will have a link that will take the user directly to the company website or to a separate sales page when they click on it. This allows for a company to get their message or their product in front of millions of people in a very short amount of time. The beauty with mobile advertising is that it is very cost effective. When a business makes the decision to engage in mobile advertising they will set a daily or a weekly budget of how much they are able to spend. The mobile manager will then place a stop call on the ads. The ad campaigns will then run, and every time a user clicks on the ad the customer is charged a fee. This is an excellent model because a company only pays for customers who actively click on their information. This is the same as paying for customers to actually walk through your door to see your products. It is an excellent marketing model.
